From Drawing to Material
Creating an acetate unique to TARIAN always begins with Jérémy’s hand.
On a blank sheet of paper, he first draws the forms, in black and white: a few lines, simple, almost instinctive gestures. Then come the volumes. The drawing grows denser, gains depth, and the first textures begin to emerge. Finally comes colour, approached like a painting, through touches, transparencies and layers.
These drawings then become material. In the region of Varese, Italy, Jérémy works with his manufacturer to translate them into acetate sheets created especially for TARIAN.
Yet between drawing and material, there is always an element of the unexpected. Pigments meet, layers shift, transparencies reveal themselves. The gesture sets the intention; the material offers its own interpretation.
Some of these creations are produced only in very limited quantities, giving rise to acetates that are almost unique — and to frames that each carry, in their own way, a fragment of the original drawing.
